Hello! On this page I will tell a little bit about myself, my interests and hobbies so you can get to know me better.
My job and passions
For starters I am a 20-something year old “jack of all trades” guy. I’m a very cyclical person who has an interest in many topics and I’m on a constant mission to improve on them simultaneously.
Let’s start with my job: I’m a full time office worker helping around the office in whatever I can (mostly IT, Excel, writing and translation in customer service). In my free time I follow the stock market and trade stocks, which for me is a blend between work and fun. Personal finance is a topic I feel very passionate about, so you can rest assured to find a lot of content about that on my blog soon to come.
Now, I don’t only stare at my monitor and trade stocks all evening because I try to have a life outside of my staring at my computer screen all day and night and also because I’m quite confident that my investment portfolio is diversified well enough that even bigger movements either way don’t make me lose sleep over what happens.
Hobbies
As for my hobbies I will start by saying that I workout 1-2 times per week whether it is at the gym or working out at home. Cycling and walking are also essential in my weekly albeit inconsistent workout routine, because I find that the speed of cycling combined with the physical exercise of pumping the pedals up and down is a great way to clear my mind.
For those days when the weather or temperature pose an issue to the comfort and viability of cycling there is always walking. I do admit walking is a lot more boring but sometimes it is essential for both physical and mental health. Any type of movement helps to clear my head after a full day of work in the office (doubly so after hosting an event or two). Running is something I’d like to do more — maybe one day.
When I’m not doing whatever I already mentioned I like to relax by playing older video games. In my opinion the late 2000s and early 2010s were the golden era of gaming and that’s where I feel most at home. A mix of sandbox games where creative planning and building is possible combined with some FPS games (first person shooters) sums up my game nights pretty well.
Some of the philosophies and values that drive my life, action and thinking are self-reliance, resourcefulness, variety and optimization.
Skills
Like I mentioned earlier that I am a jack of all trades type of guy and my topics of interest tend to change from time to time. I do still have some skills I find way more enjoyable using and improving than others. So here’s a small breakdown of all the skills that I’m available to work with:
General skills:
-Writing and on-page SEO ✏️📝
-Data analytics (Google DA)
IT skills:
–Excellent in using Excel and Microsoft Office in general, also Google Docs and Sheets
-Good at using Photoshop, Sony Vegas, Adobe Audition, Audacity, OBS etc. recording, video and voice editing programs
-Decent at using Python, HTML, CSS
-Above average understanding of computers, how machines work, coding and eager to learn about reverse engineering
Languages (7 that I know fluently)
-Native Finnish and near-native English
-Fluent Swedish and German
-Beginner Russian, Chinese (mandarin, 中文 at HSK 2-3 level) and Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt)
-Beginner Serbo-Croatian (Croatian, Serbian, Montenegrin, Bosnian which could be 1 or 4 languages depending on how you count them)
-I know individual words in a lot of languages like the Turkic languages, Hungarian and Spanish
Random facts:
-Green is my favorite color. Especially some blend of light green that’s fading into yellowish/mint green.
-I’m a baritone. Also I can master throat singing in at least 3 different styles.
-I used to play the guitar for a few years.. not well but at least I played.
–Fun fact: I’m 0.8% North-Asian and 4.4% Celtic (Irish, Scottish, Welsh)!
